Frédéric Guillaume
2002 - 31 min - DV Cam - Couleur - Belgique

In Brussels, on the main commercial road of the Toison d'Or, by the Hilton, there is a black formed of about forty houses whose fate been in the hands of a big commercial and financial British group for the past two years. Twice this year, these powerful investors have tried to impose on the inhabitants of the neighbourhood, and on the squatters who have lived in and lit up the premises, the implementation of a mall thereby condemning these houses – for most of them neo-classical – to demolition. The documentary traces these citizens' resistance in the face of the progressive merchandising of their city. It also pays homage to Igor, a Ukrainian plastic painter, a victim of the arson which ended the occupation of one of these houses.
