This is the story of forty-four high school students from Seine-Saint-Denis, one of the roughest suburbs of Paris. Without any previous acting experience, they work hard to perform a contemporary play called September 11, 2001. Michel Vinaver’s piece is an incandescent account of the tragedy. In September 2011, the young students perform the play in Paris’s prestigious Théâtre de la Ville. At each performance, they receive a standing ovation. But it’s been a long journey for all of them.
