Le Cheval de fer
Pierre Gurgand, Marie-Jo Aiassa, Aaron Sievers, Collectif
2009 - 104 min - 16 mm - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France
Between Lens, Sallaumines and Lievin in the North of France, training workshops in direct cinema were set up by Pierre Gurgand and the Institut national d'éducation populaire from 1976 to 1983. The “resurrection” of these images after the death of Pierre Gurgand in 2003 was entrusted to Aaron Sievers. The fragility of the reversal film as well as the real presence of the trainees, perceptible in the filmed material through the movements, trembling, shooting time and rhythm, persuaded Aaron Sievers to preserve the original length of the shots, without cutting.
