Vienna Before Nightfall
Robert Bober
2017 - France/Allemagne/Autriche - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - 74'

Documentary maker and writer Robert Bober brings back to life the memories of his great-grandfather, who left Poland and moved to modern and cosmopolitan Vienna. An exercise in imagination fed by books – for want of memories, mixing the story of his ancestor and that of the Jewish intelligentsia of the beginning of the twentieth century. A powerful evocation of a time when the collapse of the Habsburg Empire and the birth and rise to power of National Socialism brought an end to Vienna as the cultural capital of Europe. “Brouillon d’un rêve” grant recipient
