Pasinetti was one of the most important film theoreticians in the forties and also a prolific documentary filmmaker who died too young. Venezia minore is his most beautiful film. Using a pre-neorealist approach, he amourously depicts a secret and anti-monumental city, a sketch in the style of Francesco L. Guardo, far from the postcards that fascism was attempting to dictate.
