The Red Army Fraction (RAF), an extreme left terrorist group, also dubbed the “Baader-Meinhof gang” or “Baader-Meinhof group”, operated in Germany in the 1970s. Their members first expressed their militant aspirations in artistic and cinematic activities. But faced with their failure to reach out, they became radicalised in an armed struggle, to the point where they carried out murderous attacks which contributed to the climate of social and political violence during the “years of lead”.
