Director Ditte Uljas decided to cut the distance between her and her mother but came to notice that the journey had to be begun a generation further back in history. Ditte’s mother was in Sweden as a war child, but when the time came to travel back home, there was no family to return to: her mother had re-married a sea captain and her brothers and sisters were somewhere in Sweden. Being abandoned was a hard experience and kept silent. Concealing the past had its consequences for the relationship between Ditte and her mother. When the existence of the mother’s mother is revealed, Ditte begins to unravel the things that happened in the past.
