We went off into the Brazilian Amazon in search of a dreamt wilderness. We crisscrossed Pará, that immense Brazilian state that forty years ago was still covered by forest. Today, only a few, meagre lots of pale, washed out green remain, residues of primary forest or abandoned gardens, objects of conflicts between contradictory interests. The stories which come to us construct little by little a dark mythology, where every man, in his quest for appropriation and belonging, becomes simultaneously a protector and a prisoner of these spaces.
