It is the end of summer. We enjoy the mild temperatures with a few people from Mafrouza in a relationship that is at once close and familiar. We follow their experience of time as it unfurls in a never-ending present, without programme or plan. Whether their acts be grave or frivolous, each individual invents day after day the paths of a strange joy of life made up of ardour, trance and introspection. The old man with the flooded house, a singing ruffian, a cheikh greengrocer, the young couple of lovers, all speak to the camera to explain their choices, their ways of being in the world with others. And also to tell us of their taste for freedom, freedom which is expressed via wanderings and laughter, cigarettes and tea shared with the camerawoman during these last days of August.
