Last episode of a series of five documentaries on the defeat of the Hungarian Army in Hitler's service at the Battle of Stalingrad (1942-1943). The words of the survivors of a catastrophe carried out in the name of God and Fatherland reveal the hypocrisies of military organisation and rhetoric in an austere and radically anti-spectacular film. Sándor Sára respectfully communicates the suffering of individuals by transmitting the speech of the defeated, those who were on the “wrong side” of History, that everyone later wanted to forget—and still today. Pergőtűz marked the relation of the Hungarian people with its memory of the war.
