"One day I was invited to Florence to do some interviews in a socialisation centre for former drug addicts, people just released from prison, homeless people, people with psychiatric problems. I proposed inventing a film to be made with them, for them. I spent several years visiting the place, as if I had been adopted in this kind of port. Some leave to return after several months, others disappear with no further news. Ulysses is each one of them. The one who left, battling with sirens and monsters, crossing the land of the dead to come back, an improbable return, endless, dreamt." (Giovanni Cioni)
