Alexander Kluge
2008 - Allemagne - Couleur - 84'
Eighty years after Sergueï Eisenstein planned to adapt Karl Marx’s Das Kapital into a film, the German filmmaker Alexander Kluge breathed new life to the project. Eisenstein’s "modernity" is at work. Short version of the long composite opus: filmic flashes of documentary or staged conversations with writers, cineastes, intellectuels organised by a sly and complicit director. A new contribution by one of the great figures of German cinema, untiring innovator and inventor of film forms since the sixties.
