The film takes place in Furadouro near Ovar. While Adelino was serving in the army in Africa, Julia wed his brother, also a fisherman. The struggle for survival against the sea and tradition marks this conflictual love story and the passion which is reborn in Adelino who is attracted by the wild temperament of the young Albertina.
