In praise of labour, of grain and our daily bread, the film follows different stages of the transformation of wheat. The power of the editing is to weld with great finesse images, dialogue, music and a male choir together with a succession of "classical" shots of work in the fields or hands moulding the dough into a harmonious symphony of work.
