On one hand, the title of the film refers to the word "Haouka (Master of the Wind, Master of the craziness) and on the other hand to the colonial situation when the “Masters" (Europeans) were seen as crazy. Appearing in 1927 in the Songhai possession dances, these very particular genies were directly inspired by the army and the French and British administrations. Today’s migrant workers have found a solution in the possession crises of the Haouka cult, violent but controlled, to the problem of their adaptation to the modern world.
