During four days and four nights a man watches the carbonization of a grindstone, in the heart of a forest. An old woman sometimes comes to visit him. She also experienced how hard this work is, once, relentlessly, day and night, in close contact with the earth, the straw, the wood, the fire and the smokes. The mill man is the last man doing this kind of work in France. He tells us about the disappearance of a practice that started almost a thousand years ago.
