This film proposes a playful and personal return to the invention of cinema by going back to where it all began on December 28, 1895. The Lumière Cinematograph, at the end of the nineteenth century, concluded a technological heritage dating back to the Industrial revolution. Yet in the eyes of the people of its time, it appeared above all like the realisation of an ancestral dream, that of fixing the appearances of the visible. By confronting the reports of a socialist newspaper with views of Lumière bros, the film brings out a social life which had been negated and concealed, but is as relevant as ever today.
