In the forsaken outer limits of urban peripheries, Pierre, a jobless young man, faces his solitude and cogitates. His friends work either in the service industries, as labourers on building sites, or are unemployed. They divide their time between their jobs and frenzied weekend parties. There is also Théo, who pounds on plastic and metal waste to the tune of his song. They all traverse the same expanses of flat fields, where the cries of joy they wrench from their everyday lives mingle with the signs of dark times to come.
