Jenny Bel'Air, a topsty-turvy life ( Jenny Bel’Air, une vie à l'envers )
Régine Abadia
2008 - France - Couleur - 76'

In the seventies, Jenny Bel'Air made a furor at the “Nuage” in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. She performed “Funny Girl” in playback, singing to Brazilian melodies. A few years later, she became the most eccentric bouncer at the Palace doors. Today, at the age of fifty, she continues to wield words with sauciness and a seditious, caustic wit. Jenny is a fundamentally subversive figure with a provocative sense of humour and a redemptive exuberance. Neither male nor female, neither Black nor White, Jenny has the bearing of a queen and the soul of a tramp, unless it's the other way around.
