Throughout his life, António Reis, a self-taught artist from Portugal born in 1927, was as much a filmmaker as a poet, painter and sculptor. Following their encounter while shooting Jaime, he and his companion, Margarida Cordeiro (psychiatrist), ceaselessly pursued the dream of a non-conventional cinema, close to popular culture and the spirit of the rural areas of their country, imbued with a wealth of documentary phantasmagoria. In this four-handed film, the couple weave the threads of Jaime Fernandes' imaginary world. He was a farm labourer, admitted as a schizophrenic at the age of thirty-seven to psychiatric hospital.
