A crucial stage in Comencini's career, this investigation on living conditions of children and their families in six chapters for Rai (Italian television) is a formally free and socially enlightening report. It finally opened the door to modern television, freed from the Catholic moralism so typical of Italy. This episode is devoted to the exploitation of child labour in Naples and is based on a series of extremely frank interviews with the little workers.
