The Bozos, from the Mopti region, are renowned for their fishing skills as they possess all the secrets of the river-waters. They have a connection with the spirits which gave them the knowledge to extract the sand from the river. Through Gala, we uncover the sand path in the life of Malians and the environmental and socio-economical stakes of sand extraction in the river Niger.
