In August 1929, newspaper tycoon Randolph Hearst sent British journalist Grace Drummond-Hay on the Graf Zeppelin to report on the spectacular trip this German aircraft made over the US, Europe, Russia and Japan. Hearst also sent Karl von Wiegand along, unaware of the fact that the two had had an affair six months earlier. Ditteke Mensink uses footage that was actually shot during the flight, interlaced with news archive images from the same time, to tell about a love story in a period ridden with political and social barriers.
