Driven by an obsession with a Man Ray visual poem from 1927, Oskar Alegría tries to find Emak Bakia, the Basque house that inspired the great artist. True to surrealist principles, the filmmaker decides to let chance be his guide. This idea leads him into cemeteries in search of famous clowns, inspires him to superimpose images by Man Ray over those of his own journey, and to constantly interrupt his quest to observe reality’s randomness with his inquisitive eye. A poetic meditation on time and the images that shape our memory.
