A documentary eulogy on the meaning of life and the relation between humanity and history. Born in 1905 in the Orlické mountains of Eastern Bohemia, Franz Eimann led a life governed by hard work and the fear of God on his family farm until the Second World War. Sent to the front in 1943 and captured by the English, he was only able to return to Czechoslovakia in the middle of the fifties. Life in the country had completely changed. At the time of the shoot, Franz Eimann, despite the personal and social injustices he had suffered, remained imbued with the feelings of reconciliation and humility and had recovered a quiet life.
