The sinking of the men in the wine that is being made is like birth backwards. But it is not death we are dealing with. Legs brotherly covered in red, men and women side by side and hand in hand, eyes fixed on what is not yet in being — wether wine or the future — form a sort of collective expression of the desire for equality. An illusory rebirth out of the laws of gender. But the sweetness of the grapes that these rough feet tread, at least until the next move, is compelled, controlled, and hard-fought — a sweet way of caressing. (Tiago Afonso)
