Despite the attacks from Franco’s forces and fascists afflicting Republican Spain, the people continue to lead their lives, united and determined, confident in the soldiers who defend them. Behind the lines of defense, farmers sow, grow and harvest their crops. But with the murderous bombing campaign of the Nazi air force, some take refuge in the mountains where life is difficult and precarious. Soldiers from Europe and North America fight alongside the Spanish People’s Republican Army under the command of Enrique Lister. Copie restaurée CNC / ayant droit Ciné-archives
