Lyon, Monday, February 25th, 2002. In the premises of the association DiverCité, about twenty persons are gathered; they wonder how to prevent the eviction towards Algeria of Jamel Abidi, which goes out of prison two days later. His sister Dalila, his brother Nordine, his daughter Sarah — all three of French nationality — worked with Agnès Massip, Jean Costil from Cimade and Mister Debray, the lawyer of Jamel, while he purged its prison sentence. Together, they made multiple appeals so that he can live in France by rights at the end of his detention. Unsuccessfully. By following the case Abidi, this film testifies of the fight of associations as families to make abolish a discriminatory law in France: the one about the double punishment.
