Jean is a fireman whose girlfriend, Albertine, died following a fall from a horse. During his hours on duty, he confides in his fellow firemen the pain he feels and his doubts about Albertine’s fidelity. His improvised narrative seems to bear strong resemblances to the book Albertine disparue by Marcel Proust, of which Jean is an impassioned reader. Who really is Jean?
