Dharavi, Slum for Sale
Lutz Konermann
2009 - 80 min - HDCam - Couleur - Suisse, Allemagne, France

Located in the heart of Bombay, Dharavi is Asia’s biggest shantytown. City and state authorities decided to raze it as of January 2007 to make Bombay a modern metropolis. This situation, typical of the effects of globalization on major cities, embodies the fundamental conflicts of our times: the struggle between modernity and tradition, and, consequently, between the winners and losers in this global process of transition.
