When the Spanish crossed the Caribbean Sea in 1506, they discovered a splendid island of the Mexican coast : Cozumel. This was one of the most important centers in the Mayan world, a commercial trading port for Central America, and above all, a place of pilgrimage for women.
Today, the island has close to 50,000 inhabitants and owes its reputation to Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau. In the 1950's, he came here to dive ; soon after making public his discoveries, a new destination was born.
The maritime companies exaggerate the name Cozumel as a dream stopover for luxury ocean liners.
"Cozumel" is a film that represents the Mayans, a journey in the crystal clear fish filled waters of the Carribbean Sea, a discovery for the passion to protect nature, and a view of diving among the most beautiful in the world.
