Did you know that in the United States 85 % of little boys are circumcised, whatever their religion or the culture of their parents ? Some American men, today, are having their penis "reconstructed". Is it a symbol of belonging, of identity or an archaic mutation ? A hygiene measure or an intercultural conflict for mixed couples ?
Focal point of relations between Christians and Jews, certainly. Christ was circumcised and 1st January is the date of his circumcision.
The founding texts of the Catholic religion talk about the "circumcision of the heart" to eliminate cutting the foreskin.
What is the state of this tradition today, its meaning for various people, and for the young in particular ?
