Jose Encinas was born on the 27th May 1946, in Arcila in Marocco. He spent his youth in a douar in Algeria.
In 1962, at the age of seventeen, living in a popular district of Toulouse. He worked as a crane worker, where he participated in the construction of this neighbourhood Mirail.
Eventually he became the guardian of the gate which marked the separation between the university of Mirail (temple of knowledge) and his neighbourhood.
Having never studied, he decided to learn to write, and some years ago, Jose attracted attention, by posting some poems on his gate. This gave rise to a book "Chronicles of a gate keeper" with which he won the first prize in a poetry competition.
This man both poet and painter, as well as narrator through his vision and style of writing takes us voyaging along the roads of his humanitarian philosophy.
