At first sight, a work site where glass is made seems to function anarchically. The blowpipes come and go, carrying the molten glass to within a few centimetres of the faces. However, with each glass, the same operations are repeated with implacable regularity : this is a ballet, whose producer, the foreman, is the "choreographer".
The words of the glassblowers of La Rochère initiate us into this fascinating choreography. While they take advantage of their coffee breaks to invent new shapes, they assert that they are not artists but workmen.
