Géraldine Fasnacht is a wing suit pilot who nurtures a dream since she learned to fly: to be the first wing suit pilot to fly off the top of the Matterhorn. Technological and technical advances have enabled her, along with her friend Julien Meyer, to achieve this world premiere on June 7, 2014 . This documentary shows the professionalism and the seriousness with which the two friends approached this challenge.
Géraldine Fasnacht harbours for over 10 years the dream of flying from the top of the Matterhorn . She loves and respects this mountain. She is fascinated by it. She has an appointment with the manufacturer to try her new wing and to find out if the promised technological advances will allow her to begin the preparation for this world first. Since the imperative is to take no risk, a first jump is organized from a helicopter. The flight is beyond expectations and preparation can begin.
Now she must convince Julien Meyer, her flight companion. „A feat must be shared‰ she says. We penetrate behind the scenes of the preparation of this incredible feat. For a year the two athletes meticulously prepare the project as imperative in order to take no undue risk, "We love life too much".
With the help of the latest technology, google earth, laser, GPS and finest calculation software (lift flight), they analyse the mountain and provide a series of training jumps in order to calculate the difficulty of such a feat . Despite all their calculations they are not certain to find an exit point. "We‚ll go up there". If this is the case, if the weather is not favourable, if they "do not feel it", they will walk down. That is why they involve their friends and mountain guides Claude-Alain and Hervé Gailland Grech.
Unpredictable weather pushes repeatedly maturity by testing the patience of Geraldine and Julien forcing them to humility to the forces of Nature. The long-awaited weather window finally arrives. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 01:30am, the band left the Hörnli hut where they arrived the day before. In the light of their headlamps they begin ascending a difficult mission that will last eight hours. They are all at the top, a cloud that worried Géraldine during ascent dissipates as to indicate that it is the good day. A few meters below the summit, they carry the latest calculations. The answer is : "it goes, it will fly”.
