This CD-ROM is a multi language (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) interactive research tool consisting of a database of the first ethnographic films (120) shot in Africa, Oceania and Americas, as well as textual information : the history of ethnographic film, summaries, technical data, bibliographies, all enriched with pictures and 70 minutes of film extracts. The interactive non linear form of navigation with the integral hypermedia is offered to a larger audience as well as to specialists. Beside the earliest ethnographic films (1894-1930), the first films of Jean Rouch, Timothy Asch, John Marshall, Robert Gardner... are included in the base.
