Bleu Méditerranée
De Courbet à Matisse, 1850-1925
Alain Bergala
2000 - 52 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

"Bleu Méditerranée" is the story of men in search of the Mediterranean and that special light which "invades all things". The story of a discovery, and for some, nothing less than a revelation.
The film follows the evolution of an artistic tendency, the complex of relations woven around this pictorial theme, the difficulties these painters encountered in their quest for new lives, a quest al the more intimate and secret for being nurtured by a powerful sense of a community. Thus emerged a new "Mediterranean" motif, which played a crucial role in the evolution of the history of art.
