Two hours from Shanghai, in the Jiangsu province, the Chinese Communist Party created a "model village" in the 1960s, which was meant to apply the political and economic solutions recommended by the government... for propaganda purposes.
In the early 80s, after the advent of Deng Xiaoping and economic reforms, the Party, in the same rationale, cast this village as a new model of "Chinese-style capitalism." The results came fast: this new “neo-liberal communism” enriched the model villagers. And, each year, the Party sends a million communist executives on a one-day workshop to this township, now become a sort of "communist land".
