What are the architects thinking about ?
Livio Vacchini is constructing the new architectural college in Nancy. Meantimes, the students, the teachers and the architects of the college watch the town and introduce us to the questions raised by the practice of their art.
Folloving them through the city, this documentary proposes a reflection on the architecture of today. What is the architecture of the 20th century ? Is there a real school of contemporary architecture ?
In particular, students and teachers wonder how to reorganize an architectural concept in the suburbs, victims of the anarchical policy of the sixties and seventies. Livio Vacchini proposes to reintroduce the concept of beauty. He discusses the meanings and the importance of this idea, comparing it to the concepts of usefulness. The result is the necessity of perpetually making up new architectural projects in order to enrich the city and its suburbs.
