Anna, l'enchantée
Monique Mbeka Phoba
2001 - 50 min - DV Cam - Couleur - France, Allemagne, Bénin, Finlande

She is 17, sings like a diva and when it really matters, she agues firmly for the emancipation of women.
Anna comes from Benin in Central Africa and lives there in a polygamous family.
After a stipend that sent her to France to study singing, Anna has changed. In France, she missed the warmth and sincerity she receives in Benin from "her" five mothers and 30 siblings, but now she sees things with different eyes.
In France, however, people don't even greet each other on the street. Is Anna happier in Benin than she is in France ? Does she believe her father when he swears that Anna couldn't manage without his protection ? "I am on journey and don't know where I will be tomorrow..." Anna sings.
In the film, we see both the warmth on the nest and happiness as well as authoritarian oppression of women. And its acceptance : Anna's mothers work themselves up over what they consider to be decedent European. And the European women ? "What kind of lazy women is that who does nothing but sleep all day".
