600 kilometers north of Santiago, in a mountainous and arid area, Andacollo has a rich historical past where the Incas encountered the Spanish. But the town also suffers from a deep economic crisis, with 70 % jobless.
Through the everyday life in Andacollo, the film shows how traditional gold mining is affected by the presence of multinationals which have disrupted the economic equilibrium of the whole region.
As the film unfolds, the inhabitants of Andacollo give us elements to answer the question: How can such a rich subsoil create so much poverty ?
