Amazone 2
Jacques-Yves Cousteau
1982 - 48 min - France

4,000 miles long with over 1,000 tributaries, the Amazon drains an area larger than Europe. It is 200 miles wide at its mouth, 200 feet deep in parts and contains one-fifth of all the water of all the rivers of the world, one-third of all the forests of the world and over 2,500 species of fish, more than the entire Atlantic Ocean. In 1982 Cousteau and his 48-person crew set off on a two year journey from the mouth of the river to its source atop the perilous Peruvian mountains, over 4,000 metres above sea level.
