Taking this observation as a starting point, "Altogether" fully recognizes the ideological impasse of the era after 1968. The symbolical presence of the flag and of historical buildings and the conservation of capitals as such, have become questionable arguments. Projected into the (near) future, they appear highly uncertain, as the language in the film outlines.
Filmed in black and white, fragmented and associative, the video shows vague images of urban landscapes, some of them filmed in motion with the camera of a cell phone, while a car drives through Brussels. But what we see is in reality the imprecise abstraction of a town that gives the impression of a negative space in which the virtual character is no longer theorized with the aid of a voice over, but can be found in the image itself. The film proceeds with the collapse of the visible, leaving the spectator "trapped" inside the current situation..
