Allenby, passage Série-Collection : Makom Project, Israël

The guiding principle and intention of this series, directed by producer Amit Goren, are immediately apparent in its title. Twenty five-minute films, created by filmmakers as well as artists in diverse fields, respond to the dispersion of a world Goren describes as "digital" or "virtual" by anchoring themselves in a place – "makom" in Hebrew. Of course, the aim behind this is to provide a multi-faceted view of Israel and Palestine. Three films are shown here which focus on a selected place and arbitrary nature of how this place is demarcated. "The Blind girl", in which a tale is read by several Israeli citizens, whose unequal command of Hebrew indicates the closeness of their ties to the land where they have been living forever or for only a few years. Moscovia, which provides an exact account of the minuscule distances separating enemy buildings and monuments in Jerusalem, then proceeds to show the inhumane prison known by this name. Inventory, an artist's inventory of all his household possessions, first shown with a voice over, then again in silence. First screened in April at "DocAviv" (Tel Aviv Documentary Film Festival), "Makom Project" was then "installed" in June at the Museum of Israel (Jerusalem), and has since been broadcast on five consecutive evenings on Israel's channel 8.
