Afrique du Sud : nuits de Princess Série-Collection : Contrechamp humanitaire

Christophe Naigeon, Catherine Tellier
1996 - 26 min - Betacam SP - France

Princess is a pretty little girl, happy and sometimes dreamy. At school she is a little the teacher's special care. She arrived in her class in the middle of the school year when she had one morning to leave suddenly her house on fire, abandoning in the ashes the bodies of her parents and two youngest brothers.
Princess lives now with her brothers, sisters and cousins, a group of sixteen orphans taken in by their grand-parents. Political violence between the ANC and the IFP in Zulu country has killed four of these old unemployed people's children who are now totally dependent on the help of international charitable organisations.
Princess took us to visit the place she lives in the reserve. She shows us the big Transvaal train which goes past with all the country's riches and which goes way over there to the white men's factories.
The night frightens Princess as it frightens everyone. You hear shots, you see flames, and often in the morning there is weeping.
