A Street Called Triumph
( Uma Rua Chamada Triumpho )

Ozualdo Ribeiro Candeias
2011 - 125 min - 35 mm - Couleur - Brésil

Uma rua Chamada triumpho is the first part of an intimate two part essay on the communities inhabiting the Santa Ifigênia area in São Paulo - from filmmakers to shop owners and the homeless. Edited largely from the filmmaker’s own extensive photo documentation of the neighbourhood (he was a long-time resident), these episodes may be described as bittersweet, nostalgic, quietly personal while also retaining a newsreel appearance indicative of Candeias’ experience as an industrial filmmaker.
