Histoires vues et vécues par des jeunes habitants du 20e à Paris
Collectif
1999 - 24 min - Hi 8 - Couleur - France

At the housing development at 140 rue de Ménilmontant, that since a dark event that made the news has been called the "Bronx of the 20th arrondissement", young people aged 18-25 have set up an association, "La Sauce Télégraphe", in order to try to "change the image of young people", to do something, to act against prejudice...
It brings together young inhabitants from various origins. They live at number 140 and are "known" to the prevention officers, others act as "big brothers", or organise sports activities or are sitting their Baccalauréat. A group of about a dozen has come together with the desire to make a film on the common theme of prejudice and preconceived ideas. Seven anecdotes, banal, everyday stories, are told by the authors, interspersed with two main tales : Tarik and his self-portrait : an authentic "rebeu", as he calls himself, in his final year at the lycée in a scientific section but that no-one believes, neither the police nor the girls... Jean-Marc and Syna, friends, have always lived at number 140 and understand each other in a very strange way.
