The East coast of China is experiencing dramatic changes. Every day, villages are wiped out of the map, but in a narrow area, a village remains as if no city was all around. An American is living there with the peasants and keeps close to the elements of nature. This documentary follows this American for five years. We will witness his everyday life, and his most intimate relation to the world, until an unexpected ending where life and art are tied together.
