93 la belle rebelle
Jean-Pierre Thorn
2010 - 73 min - HDV - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

The intense musical history of the "nine three" district started in the sixties with rock music made to escape working in the factory; then came jazz in the seventies, as a way of resisting to "yéyé" songs; in the eighties, there was an amazing abundance of punk rock music created by squatters, to fight against the developing extreme right- wing party; in the nineties, this lead to the boom of the hip hop phenomenon by children of immigrants, and to hard rock music by students in vocational schools. Why is it that these so much criticized and depreciated suburb areas have contributed to such an extent to the blooming of so many artists and aroused such passion among the youth? The film is focusing on this mystery.
