This twenty-seventh edition of the États généraux du film documentaire at Lussas legitimately consecrates creative documentary as the audiovisual form most apt to transform our way of looking both at artistic creation and at our society.
Thus the different workshops on offer will invite us in turn to question the therapeutic virtues of documentary cinema, its technological evolution as well as the narrative mechanisms which in various places bring it close to fiction. And while the numerous programmes dedicated to Spain, to artists and filmmakers as esteemed as Marc Karlin or Michael Snow allow us to become both intellectually and emotionally enriched, the professional sessions will give us the opportunity to reflect on the economic and aesthetic modalities of documentary production and on the structuring of the industry which gravitates around this field of artistic creation. This reflection is taking place of course in a context marked by the reform of support procedures for documentary in France, and the testimony of professional participants dedicated to the production of ambitious works will be particularly valuable.
